Bizarre! I have only one explanation for this. The parents must be very immature who perhaps became parents at a very young age.. could even be teenagers.. and then ran away from the burden of it all. Still very sad!
Yeah. Makes everything else seem pale and ridiculous by comparison, dunnit?
